I would argue that these mistakes lend well to many things beyond just Understanding by Design (UbD). For example, these ideas could transfer to system switches of things like computer course management, student reporting, or assessment systems.

Along the same lines as DIY.org, this site teaches anyone how to make almost anything. Search for something according to a theme, technology, workshop, living, food, play, and outside. There are forums, answers, and groups to join. What more could a teacher or parent ask for to send kids to for ideas about what they would like to make.
